Name Ronald Bilius Weasley [Ron]
Birthdate March 3rd, 1980
Age 19
Bloodline Pure
Former House Gryffindor

PERSONALITY

If Ron is true to anything, it is his patronus: though it’s not anything he’d like to hear out loud, he really is loyal as a dog. He will not abandon his friends, most of which he takes time in choosing; in fact, there is very little that Ron will abandon after it has come to be important to him. Growing up in a household where it was often a battle to be entirely his own person, as an adult Ron is determined to hold on to the things that matter to him, and even more determined to give himself and his family something to be proud of.

Though usually appearing as awkward and somewhat cowardly, Ron appears to value other people's lives/honor over his own in most circumstances, and will step up to most any challenge without a thought (though it's true that he will grumble about it afterwards), especially if dared. He is generally trusting in nature, though tends to take a somewhat logistic, black-and-white view of things: something is either wrong or right, here or there, and there is very little anyone can say to make him see differently. That’s because if Ron is true to anything else, it is himself, and he is rather a stubborn sort of person. It’s been both an asset and a fault throughout the years; for one thing, you can be sure that if Ron is standing up for something it’s because he’s really put stock in it, and will continue to defend it. You know that if Ron has something to say, he will, unless he thinks it might ruin things terribly (because he isn’t stupid, no matter what they say). Stubborness translates to determination, after all -- determination to do anything. And due to this, you know with great certainty that Ron won’t change his mind about anything unless the failure to do so will get him killed. Unfortunately, it’s anyone’s guess if he’ll figure out that it’s going to. Ron’s stubbornness means he is very sure, but it also means that he is very difficult to sway. Introducing Ron to new ideas and opinions can sometimes be a gamble. It isn’t so much that he won’t understand, of course, but only that he’s so set in his ways that it often doesn’t occur to him that these things really can change.

And that word -- change -- is a hard one for Ron. He is the kind of person who knows what he wants and how he thinks things should be; it’s difficult for him sometimes when the real world doesn’t parallel the image he holds dear. Half the reason Ron fights so hard sometimes is to let things stay the same. He is terrified of being put somewhere he can’t get out of, or of having things disappear right under his nose. For this reason, his affection for other people can sometimes be a little invasive, as well as other feelings; in general Ron is an honest person when it comes to sincere anything (anger, love, sorrow, etc) mostly because he never learned how to deal with them properly. Ron only knows two real reactions to things, and because he experiences emotion so intensely can often do nothing but express himself either way: either blowing up or holding it all in. Because he has a large mouth to begin with, and has always harbored the tendency to speak before thinking, this translates to his outbursts; when angry or passionate enough, there is little Ron will be ashamed to let loose until after he can’t take it back. On the other hand, when giving himself time to think and sort through things, he can find it difficult to relate his personal thoughts to people in a way he believes they’d understand. When it comes to very important things, there are times Ron will be silent about something for days or even weeks before letting anyone know -- and even when it comes to the smallest of feelings, if given enough time anything can multiply.

With so many brothers, it’s unsurprising that Ron has especial difficulty with things like jealousy and inadequacy. There is no doubt that he wants to prove himself, often taking any opportunity available to do so. When he feels particularly strongly about a talent, he wants to be the best at it, and has a hard time seeing others get the limelight. There will always be a small part of him that doesn’t feel as ‘cool’ or intelligent or successful as someone he loves, and it’s for that reason that Ron will always be difficult in way or another. In fact, Ron has a history of doing hurtful things when feeling particularly bad about something; though his intentions are rarely to do real harm, it can’t be denied that he has a tendency to be spiteful. He often will hurt people he loves simply because he has no idea what else to do with everything that is weighing on him -- remember how he treated Harry in fourth year? The truth is that though Ron can be blind to exactly how hurtful he manages to be at times, there are times he knows every well how he’s behaving, and who wouldn’t be guilty about something like that? Especially since while Ron is particularly adept at such things as arguing and picking fights, thinking of creative insults, and generally being a nuisance. His best talent when it comes to this sort of thing is holding a grudge. Ron does not forget, though he might forgive a little -- not that you’d know, based on the way he chooses to say sorry. Ron has always had problems with being patient as well. He often understands material quite easily, but can’t bring himself to sit down and apply himself. He could be good at most anything if only he would grit his teeth and let things go.

The only thing that Ron has enough patience for really are things that intrigue him. Among his positive traits is a kind of curiosity; while he’s by no means like Hermione, gobbling up any source of information possible, when something interests Ron he becomes very invested in mastering it. There’s a certain addiction he has to feelings of fulfillment and happiness; what with so many years of being worried, even being too busy to address his worries properly, he has learned to cling to and attempt cultivating any shred of positivity possible. In a hopeless situation Ron is often the last to give up hope. He is honest, but buoyant, and does his best to bolster others when possible -- beware, however, as Ron is just as adept at being miserable.

01. Ron is still heartbroken over that perfume he gave Hermione eons ago. For one thing, he's never smelled it on her, and for another it cost him nearly three months savings.

02. Ron loves to cook. He often helped his mother in the kitchen when little, seeing as there wasn't much else to do when everyone else was off at school. This isn't to say he's any good at it, though. In fact: he is horrendous.

03. Ron learned his alphabet mainly from Percy, and actually was able to ‘write’ and ‘read’ at a bit of a young age. Unfortunately, the legibility of his writing hasn't changed much since then, and when it comes to learning new words he isn't exactly Hermione.

04. His favorite smells are cut grass, linen and lavender, and his favorite food is peach cobbler. If asked, he will tell you that his favorite word is 'persnickety', though he will often forget what it means exactly.

05. Ron would very much like to be a manly man, by any means possible.

06. He is not only good at wizard’s chest, but most games of logic. Though you wouldn’t think it by looking at him, Ron is very good at sorting out puzzles, and even if it takes him a while will pick apart anything you throw at him. He’s also quite good at figuring out how things work, and has recently begun tackling muggle artifacts.

07. Ron envies Ginny her quidditch career, and the fact that she didn’t have to wear as many hand-me-downs -- but when it comes down to it, he feels a particular responsibility for her not only because they’re closer in age, but because he wishes he could have been the one to really save her second year. He’s extremely protective of Gin in the most earnest way, which only seems to have intensified after realising that not everyone sees her as a sister. (Ahem, Harry.) In general Ron has found it difficult that Ginny is growing up and doesn’t really need anyone to protect her anymore.

08. Ron cherishes any item that he can completely call his. That said, he’s always been rather possessive of his belongings, and covets material things a little more than you’d except from someone who is used to not having as many of them. In other words, he’d very much like to be rich, and is not shy about wishing for money.

09. He thinks American accents are cute on girls, though he’s only met two or three with them. In general, however, anything foreign is either ‘brill’ or ‘stupid’ to Ron, and he’s never been the most interested in other cultures apart from things like ancient Egypt and Celtic rituals and badass things like that.

10. Ron secretly, secretly wishes he could have been at school for seventh year. Though he doesn’t regret anything he’s done to help Harry in the slightest -- and likes to think he helped quite a bit -- there are parts of Ron that wish he could’ve had more of a normal time at school, even if adventure was exciting.
